Splendid Spoon was created by a woman named Nicole Centeno who first started making vegan soups for herself when she was pregnant with her first child and trying to find ways to nourish her body. Splendid Spoon is a subscription-based meal delivery service that is made up of completely plant-based, gluten-free and non-GMO foods. Everything comes ready-to-eat and the packaging, right down to the package it's delivered in, is 100% recyclable! Splendid Spoon offers a variety of soups, bowls, and smoothies which are all packed with nourishing and delicious ingredients!
What drew me to Splendid Spoon?
I first became interested in Splendid Spoon because my parents have a friend with esophageal cancer and he has a hard time consuming solid foods due to getting radiation in his throat. I vaguely remembered a blogger talking about Splendid Spoon a couple of years ago, and at the time I thought they only offered pre-made soups which sounded perfect for my parent's friend since it would be healthy and easy to swallow. After visiting their website I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they also offer bowls and smoothies as well!
The first thing that I loved when I visited the Splendid Spoon website was a big heading that read “Busy Can be Healthy.” After I had Austin my husband and I started subscribing to a plant-based meal delivery service that comes with an easy-to-read weekly menu and all of the necessary ingredients to cook the recipes. It took the guess work out of what to cook for dinner during the week and I loved that it enabled us to try so many new things that were all plant-based and healthy.
Our breakfasts and lunches, however, are more often than not about convenience more than anything. I am guilty of having a lackluster breakfast (a protein bar) many days of the week and soup for lunch (that sometimes comes from a can- don’t judge!) I don’t mind cooking dinners, but during the day I am so busy that cooking a meal is the last thing I want to do. Hence why I was SUPER excited to stumble upon Splendid Spoon. Their soups and bowls are exactly what my lunch dreams are made of and their pre-made smoothies are filling and packed with really great ingredients. And the best part? No cleaning of the blender required, my least favorite part about making smoothies! Everything is plant-based, dairy-free, gluten-free and ready to eat. Healthy AND convenient? Sign me up!

3.) Breakfast + Lunch + Reset (MOST POPULAR)
cost: if you use my coupon code you will receive ten dollars off so it will be $125/week (usually $135)
With this plan you will get 5 smoothies, 5 bowls and *5 light soups delivered weekly.
*Note, the 5 light soups are actually for a 1-day reset since Splendid Spoon was originally started as a cleanse. However, you can have them as a light meal each day rather than consume them all in one day as a reset if you choose to.
After you choose your plan you are directed to a space to fill out your address and whether or not you have any food allergies. If you do, they will make sure not to include any products with those ingredients into your box (you can also list certain foods you don’t like, like mushrooms for example, and they will substitute for something else in future meals). You can edit your plan up to 6 days before the food is delivered. I think this is an amazing feature because it really customizes the meals to your preferences and taste buds! (Please note, if you don’t select anything, they will just automatically choose for you, so if you are not picky its a nice little surprise every week!) I also love that you have the ability to choose your delivery date, so if you are going away for a few days, you can still get your delivery later/earlier in the week for example.
If you choose to pick out your smoothies and/or bowls + soups, I wish you well because there are so many amazing options to choose from that its hard to narrow it down! Splendid Spoon currently has 15 different smoothies available with delicious, creative blends of flavors like Orange Hibiscus, Blackberry Basil, Raspberry Cacao, and Mint Chip- to name a few! They also have 27 bowls available to chose from and 5 light soup offerings for The Reset plan (you can choose one of each or get multiples of certain flavors). I am obsessed with their Wellness Shot which contains ginger, orange juice, lemon juice and oregano extract. I loved the hint of oregano in it and it gave me a little energy boost afterwards. They have more varieties of their wellness shots coming soon so stay tuned!!
Can I try Splendid Spoon just for one week?
Yep! All you have to do is pay for a week and make sure to cancel or freeze (see below on directions how to do that).

Let’s cut to the chase, what did I think about Splendid Spoon once I finally got to try it out for a week? I LOVED it, no exaggeration. When I first opened the box I had a few suspicions, but I was pleasantly surprised how wrong I was:
Suspicion #1: “These portions look kind of small”
When I first saw the packaging of the bowls they looked kind of small to me. However, once I opened them up and dumped them on a dish I was surprised to find that the portions are quite big and definitely satisfying! The bowls are actually great because they are easy to carry in a lunch box and/or a tote bag and they are microwavable so I would just heat them up and either eat it right out of the container or pour it into a bowl. Some days I even split up the bowls into two and added greens or a grain or tortilla chips and made two meals out of one so that my husband could have some as well.
As far as the smoothies go, I would say they are VERY filling, and I never say that about smoothies. To be honest I’m not usually a smoothie drinker because I find that most of them from stores/cafes are loaded with sugar and never fill me up. However, the smoothies from Splendid Spoon were so filling that I actually never finished a smoothie in one setting, and that says a lot for me! Instead I found myself drinking about half in the morning and then had the other half later in the day or the next morning. I also loved that the ingredients in the smoothies are super filling and nutritions and not high in sugar. See my next suspicion for more on the ingredients!
Suspicion #2: “Some of these ingredients are kinda weird, are these going to be gross?”
At first glance, I had a few “what the heck is that??” about some of the ingredients, like “kabocha congee”, “baobab powder”, and “swiss chard juice.” However, I didn’t dislike ANY of the smoothies or bowls that I tried, many of which included ingredients I was originally skeptical of. I was actually really proud of myself for trying new things and loved that I enjoyed them too! I also looked up some of the ingredients I was not familiar with and learned that they are all nutritional powerhouses! For example, Swiss chard juice is packed with vitamins A,K, and C, iron and fiber, baobab powder helps balance blood sugar and creates feelings of fullness, and kabocha is a type of squash that is low in carbohydrates and high in beta carotene and fiber. Love it!
Suspicion #3: “Is the price worth it?”
Simply put, I definitely think so. Referring back to my first suspicion, the meals are super filling and can even be split into two and still be satisfying by adding a healthy side to it. Also considering I was eating crap for breakfasts and lunches before I discovered Splendid Spoon, I am 1000% willing to pay these prices for someone to take the guesswork and manual work out of cooking for me so that I can eat healthy and fresh meals.
Final verdict: I absolutely love Splendid Spoon and I would 100% recommend it to people. Even my 2 year old, Austin, couldn't get enough of it! He tried everything that I did (mostly because he always wants what I am eating LOL), and wanted more, more, more! I actually found myself trying to eat and drink on the sly at some points so I wouldn't have to share, but he always caught me.
Lastly, I love that all the meals are plant-based and gluten free and super nutritious AND delicious. I also appreciate the little details, like the fact that all of the packaging is 100% recyclable and that you can warm the bowls and soups up in the containers that they come in. If you were intrigued by my review and want to give it a try, you can use my link to get $10 off! Remember, they are low pressure and you can cancel anytime, but I highly highly recommend you give them a try. You won't regret it. XO
